Job Description

The role involves overseeing the administration and management of all subcontract activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services and products. The Subcontracts Manager works closely with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure that subcontracts are in compliance with organisational policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.

The key responsibilities include leading the end-to-end subcontracting process, from pre-award through post-award administration. This includes managing post-award subcontract performance against KPIs, timelines, and contractual obligations, establishing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers/vendors, advocating for change, providing clarity on expectations, and proactively addressing performance risks.

The Subcontracts Manager also conducts risk assessments on subcontractor performance, works closely with project managers, legal, finance and other departments to ensure the effective integration of subcontracting activities into overall project plans, leads subcontract negotiations, including terms, conditions, pricing, and delivery schedules, provides regular status updates to senior management on subcontract performance, risks, and issues, and develops and improves subcontracting processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field;
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in subcontract management or procurement, preferably within Defence;
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing subcontracts and vendor relationships;
  • Strong understanding of subcontracting processes, contract law, and procurement regulations;
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate, when required; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
