About This Opportunity

This role involves assisting in the interpretation and integration of health and safety requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations. You will provide input and technical guidance, assist with communications, track performance trends, and conduct inspections and monitoring to help keep employees safe by contributing to continuous improvement of project health and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assists execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
  • Assists development and implementation of Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
  • Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups to assure that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
  • Interprets safety and health requirements and provides guidance on risk assessment and ESH program execution.
  • Researches issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
  • Provides support and guidance for ESH permits, risk assessments and other safety and health reviews.
  • Participates in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
  • Interfaces and communicates with stakeholders and helps resolve their ESH concerns.
  • Participates in meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conducts ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.

Requirements
  • Degree or Gradate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related science/engineering area related to occupational safety or health and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • General Construction Safety Induction (White Card)

Additional Information
This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions which may include extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts, and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection etc.).
