Oncology Nurse Opportunity

Mater Hospital Brisbane's Oncology Ward (10B) has an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to join the team on a permanent part-time basis.

As an Oncology Nurse, you will have a strong patient-service focus, demonstrated commitment to continued service improvement, willingness to facilitate and encourage cohesive, positive professional relationships, and be required to demonstrate problem-solving skills to improve patient care outcomes relevant to the ward.

  • Assess patient conditions, create comprehensive nursing care plans, and monitor patients' progress throughout their treatment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Offer emotional support to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and providing education on treatment options and side effects.
  • Document patient information accurately, including medical history, medications, and treatment plans.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities, staying up to date with the latest advancements in oncology nursing practices.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will need:

  • Current AHPRA registration with no restrictions.
  • Advanced clinical competency and experience within an Oncology area.
  • High levels of communication (both written and verbal) and clinical problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to function within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Previous experience with administering chemotherapy is desirable but not required. If no experience, willingness to acquire the skill.
