Job Role

The Regulatory Economist will play a key role in supporting project work with regulated utilities, government bodies, and infrastructure organisations. The focus will be on regulatory strategy, bringing proposals together by working with businesses to identify requirements and ensuring all material meets the required standard.

The emphasis is on shaping and delivering effective regulatory proposals while providing strategic advice, analytical modelling, and evidence-based insights at the intersection of policy, regulation, business strategy, and consumer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop economic models and financial forecasts to support regulatory submissions, including capital expenditure proposals and cost-of-service frameworks
  • Prepare regulatory proposals, board papers, and business cases, communicating complex economic concepts clearly
  • Navigate regulatory frameworks and ensure compliance with information and reporting requirements
  • Conduct policy and regulatory research, identifying emerging trends and risks across electricity, water, gas, and infrastructure sectors
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders including regulators, corporate clients, and advocacy groups
  • Co-author thought leadership content on regulatory and economic developments
  • Collaborate in a small, specialist team contributing to capability building and knowledge sharing
