**Early Childhood Outcomes Division**

The Early Childhood Outcomes Division leads the delivery of the Early Years Commitment program, including comprehensive investments in the critical first 5 years of life for every child - in child development and in early education and care, making investments that support families and the community now, as well as investing in long term reforms for the future. Key initiatives will include supporting families with young children to access the services they need to support their own prosperity and wellbeing; valuing and growing the early childhood education and care sector and investing in early childhood teachers and educators.

**About the role**
The Childcare and Economic Opportunities Fund (the Fund) is designed to provide supply side interventions into the Early Childhood Education and Care Sector to reduce the barriers to workforce participation through improving the affordability and access of childcare. The Principal Commercial and Market Advisor will lead work to develop insights into the operation of the ECEC market in NSW, to inform the investment priorities of the Fund and build on economic modelling showing the relationship between availability and cost of childcare with workforce participation. The role leads economic analysis to inform policy and funding decisions, the design and management of the Directorate's commercial and market advisory strategy and coordinates performance reporting for the early childhood education sector.

**Key functions of the role will include**:

- Leading complex economic analysis and market monitoring
- Being the key representative at major committees and forums
- Providing advice on areas or risk, and possible mitigation strategies
- Modelling the impact of reforms and policy proposals to support decision making

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as economics, education, business, management or social sciences, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Strong economic and commercial data analytical skills and excellent written and presentation skills to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences
- Ability to act independently to plan, lead and organise the work of the team to deliver high quality support to the Directorate to achieve agreed objectives and performance targets
- Experience in managing complex and sensitive issues
- Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
