Westmead Hospital is a key facility of Australia's largest major health and medical research precincts. It is the principal referral hospital for Western Sydney Local Health District, providing district level health services to Parramatta, Holroyd and The Hills Shire LGAs.

The hospital offers tertiary and quaternary services to greater western Sydney, metropolitan Sydney, rural NSW and other states.

It provides approximately 638 acute overnight, 30 day only and 52 subacute beds. Westmead Hospital is a leading centre of research, training and specialisations in all fields of medicine and dentistry.

The Emergency Department operates 24 hours, 7 days per week and manages various illnesses and injuries.

Critical care services are provided by the Intensive Care Unit and the Medical and Surgical High Dependency Units.

Over 120 outpatient clinics provide ambulatory care to around 5,000 attendances per month.

The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre Westmead is a purpose-built state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility.

Job Role:

A Senior Registrar will be responsible for providing surgical oncology services, including patient care, teaching and research.

  • This role involves participation in multidisciplinary team meetings for different types of cancers, on-call roster for the Acute Surgical Unit, and ensuring quality service delivery and resource management within the district.
  • We are seeking ambitious individuals with a passion for improving healthcare outcomes through clinical excellence and teamwork.

To be eligible for this position, you must have:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-assessment practices that support credentialing to the position

The successful applicant will possess strong clinical knowledge and experience in general surgery/head and neck surgery/surgical oncology, as well as high-level communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

We require a commitment to quality assurance activities, evidence-based best practice, teaching and supervision, and research concepts.
