About this role:

Our organisation is seeking a communications professional to build engagement with First Peoples with disabilities.

The Organisation

We are governed by First Peoples with lived experience of disability, proactively engaging with communities around Australia and individuals internationally to advocate for human rights.

We focus on supporting Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to develop accessible resources, communications standards, and guidelines that strengthen engagement with people with disability and understanding of their needs in policy development.

The Role

You will play an integral part in developing community campaigns to raise awareness and support for important issues related to First Peoples with disability. You will identify communication gaps across members and the broader disability sector, develop accessible content, resources, and materials to communicate key messaging, and capture incoming communications to identify and address sector needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a communications role within an organisation focused on social change.
  • Skills in developing accessible content, resources, and materials for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge, respect, and support for the cultural values and practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Understanding of the disability sector and related challenges in accessing information and support.
  • Well-developed time and project management skills, ability to work with multiple deliverables.
  • Experience producing impactful campaigns and content ideally for First Nations Communities.
