Operational Risk Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Risk Specialist to join our team at Defence Bank Limited. As a key member of our risk management function, you will play a critical role in shaping and operationalising our operational risk maturity.
Key Responsibilities- Provide second-line operational risk oversight, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
- Support the Chief Risk Officer in maintaining and reviewing key risk documents, including the Risk Register, Risk Appetite, and Risk Management Strategy.
- Contribute to the development and operationalisation of our Operational Risk Framework.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to expand the use of a GRC system for risk and control management.
- Assist in the delivery of the CPS 230 Initiative, driving growth and change in operational risk management.
- Develop and maintain the bank's business continuity program, ensuring it remains fit for purpose and meets required standards.
- Facilitate risk assessments and resilience planning to ensure the bank is prepared for disruptions.
- Engage with staff to promote understanding and acceptance of resilience planning and operational risk management.
- Support the Chief Risk Officer in providing guidance and oversight on audit tracking, governance, and remediation.
- Contribute to broader operational risk insights and risk assessments to support identification and mitigation of risks.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Operational Risk Specialist with a strong background in risk management and a passion for building capability. You will have:
- 3+ years' experience in operational risk management, with a solid risk background.
- Previous experience in influencing a multi-disciplinary team through organisational change.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to coach and mentor leaders.
- Superior planning, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
