Job Title: Operational Risk Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing second-line operational risk oversight, supporting the Chief Risk Officer, and maintaining and reviewing key risk documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide second-line operational risk oversight, including identifying how the bank can better prepare to navigate exciting but turbulent times.
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer to maintain and review key risk documents, including the Risk Register, Risk Appetite, and Risk Management Strategy.
  • Support the build and operationalising of our Operational Risk framework.
  • Work with the business to expand the uniform utilisation of a GRC system as a means to record key process, risk, and control processes and data.
  • Be an integral member of our CPS 230 Initiative delivery team.
  • Develop and maintain the bank's business continuity program, ensuring it remains fit for purpose, meets required standards, and continues to reflect better practice.
  • Assist teams to address gaps in operational discipline from a business continuity perspective.
  • Coordinate the business continuity program annual planning cycle, supporting business units to exercise, review, and update their business continuity plan.
  • Facilitate risk assessments to help us plan for disruption and response.
  • Engage, collaborate, and work with all staff to understand what resilience planning is and drive an acceptance and understanding of what it takes to run a safe, responsive, and modern bank.
  • Work closely with business sponsors to provide support and guidance with respect to preparation, delivery, and provision of management response to Internal Audit observations.
  • Participate as an SME guiding the business towards proportional response in uplifting our Operational Risk Maturity in line with CPS 230 – Operational Risk.
  • Oversee audit tracking governance, reporting, and follow-up remediation with observation owners.
  • Work with the business to identify and document risk controls and develop a controls testing and assurance program.
  • Investigate risk-related incidents and collaborate with the business to implement remedial actions and uplift controls where necessary.
  • Contribute to broader operational risk insights and risk assessments to support identification and risk mitigation.
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer with periodic Risk and Compliance Committee reporting.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience within operational risk and a solid risk background.
  • Previous experience in influencing a multi-disciplinary team through organisational change.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor leaders to achieve success.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Superior planning, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
