Origin Energy is seeking a highly skilled Reservoir Optimization Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Reservoir Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading all reservoir engineering activities on existing operating wells within Asset West/East.

About the Role

The Reservoir Optimization Lead will collaborate closely with the Production Engineering team and other support functions to:

  • Generate production forecasts
  • Assess reserves and resources
  • Develop reservoir monitoring and surveillance plans
  • Identify and analyze opportunities to optimize existing well stock through brownfield projects
  • Co-lead well reviews
  • Prepare lookbacks on performance of drill packages

These activities will support current operations for the Assets and further support the Assets to maximize production and optimize cost of supply, while ensuring safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall accountability for all aspects of Reservoir Engineering of the existing operating wells
  • Engage, develop, and coach team members to create a high-performing team environment
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to a team of Reservoir Engineers and/or Petroleum Engineers, ensuring all deliverables are met
  • Accountable for production forecasts for existing wells, including high and low side scenarios
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration with the Production Engineering and Integrated Planning teams
  • Accountable for assessing reserves and resources, including classification and documentation for assigned fields
  • Prepare and implement Reservoir Surveillance and Management plans and reserves forecasts for producing wells
  • Work with the production engineering team to identify and assess production optimization opportunities
  • Lead multi-discipline teams to complete economic assessments of brownfield optimization projects, including surface equipment upgrades and gathering network pressure reduction opportunities
  • Active participation in the review of STP (Short Term Plan) and UDP (Upstream Development Plan) production forecasts
  • Preparation and delivery of TCM (Technical Committee Meeting) presentation material to APLNG shareholders
  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, effectively communicating complex technical information
  • Role model Origin leadership habits and HSE behaviors, actively implementing change initiatives to support the delivery of asset and IG strategy and outcomes, and ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

Essential Experience

10 years of Oil and Gas industry experience, working as a Reservoir or Petroleum Engineer

Chartered Engineer in Australia/RPEQ

Extensive technical knowledge of Reservoir and/or Petroleum Engineering disciplines

Experience in analytical reservoir modeling

Knowledge and experience in production forecasting, material balance, well testing, pressure transient analysis, risk analysis, and reserves estimations

Knowledge of other subsurface disciplines, including geology, petrophysics, geophysics, etc.

Thorough understanding of coal seam reservoir geology

Knowledge of interpretation software packages (e.g., Pansystem, Saphire, Harmony)
