Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support safe patient care, accurate clinical coding and relevant funding models.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to review and enhance the quality of inpatient documentation, clarify diagnoses and procedures, ensuring accurate records reflect the complexity of care provided.
  • Identify and resolve documentation issues impacting diagnosis-related group assignments and hospital-acquired complications, ensuring high standards of clinical care.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Clinical experience in acute care environments and/or formal qualifications as a Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder, demonstrating knowledge and extensive experience across various specialties.
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical documentation standards and strong understanding of clinical coding requirements.
  • Ability to implement change initiatives within complex health service environments, develop education on continuous documentation quality improvement for clinical staff.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, engaging stakeholders and multidisciplinary groups to align efforts toward common visions or goals.
