Role Overview

Hospital in the Home (HITH) is a unique healthcare delivery model that provides medical care to patients in their own homes. As a Staff Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department/service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical assessment and management of patients within the department/service.
  • Work with a senior medical officer to review patient cases, determine management plans, and follow patients through their HITH admission.
  • Communicate effectively with referring medical officers and the HITH team.
  • Support and participate in teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate students and other staff of the hospital.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist recognition as provided by the Health Insurance Act 1973 and relevant Award/Determination.
  • Demonstrated subspecialty training in General Medicine and/or Geriatric Medicine.
  • Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices aligned with the scope of practice.
