What You'll doThe candidate will be responsible for leading technical aspects related to electrical engineering side of PV power plants, from project development to design, construction, and operation, with main responsibilities including:
- Preparing technical design tender reports and equipment sizing.
- Developing HV substation primary equipment design deliverables, feasibility studies, reports, programs, and cost estimates.
- Working knowledge of transmission and distribution systems.
- Reviewing plant aspects of projects, including layouts, earthing design, reports, mechanical interlocking, busbar calculations, and technical specifications.
- Attending and chairing design review and hazard review meetings, and reviewing HV plant design packages as required.
Participating in site visits, FAT, and SAT as required.
- Supporting contractual negotiations with EPC regarding technical areas such as HV electrical engineering, equipment specifications, and testing.
- Supporting the FEED team to explore solar applications in new markets, including hydrogen, off-grid, battery, reactive mode applications, and developing solutions for connecting hybrid/storage generators to the grid.
- Applying power systems knowledge to network-level load, generation, reactive power, and short circuit level curtailments; assessing risks on HV connections and advising engineering teams.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience as a design engineer/manager in consultancy, transmission networks, or similar industries.
- Familiarity with MV/HV equipment, including switchgear, transformers, protections, and lines.
- Extensive field experience in MV/HV deployment and installation practices.
- Familiarity with commissioning tests for renewable installations.
- Experience with power systems for renewable projects, including HV substations and control.
- Familiarity with industry components such as inverters, transformers, and cabling.
- Knowledge of electrical protections calculations and earthing design for MV/HV systems.
- Understanding storage system technologies and strategies for renewables.
