Public Health Specialist Role

Our organization seeks a dedicated Public Health Specialist to carry out scheduled inspections of licensed and registered premises. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to colleagues, ensuring the delivery of an efficient and effective public health service.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver public health services related to food premises, legionella control, commercial and public swimming pools, skin penetration, and onsite sewage management.
  • Manage and investigate complaints on health-related issues, including food-borne illness outbreaks, and undertake regulatory action as required by legislation.
  • Conduct assessments of development applications relevant to environmental health requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer or similar position.
  • Technical skills and expertise in interpreting relevant Local Government, Public Health, and Environmental Legislation.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports on investigations and outcomes of public health issues.
  • Excellent customer service, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in supervision, training, mentoring, and coaching staff.
  • Current driver's license.
