Substance Use Disorder Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Substance Use Disorder Support Specialist to play a vital role in supporting individuals with substance use disorders by providing tailored support, developing recovery and harm minimisation strategies, and facilitating behaviour changes.

About the Position

The specialist will assess client needs, conduct counselling sessions, and work in various settings, including community, home, and office environments. This role focuses on working primarily with First Nations clients and families to develop holistic recovery plans. Additionally, you will contribute to community education and awareness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing individual, group, and family counselling to address substance-related issues using evidence-based practices.
  • Comprehensive assessment of client needs related to substance use, including history, mental health, psychosocial needs, and risk factors, to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Managing a caseload of clients, providing support, coordinating services, and advocating for their needs.
  • Collaborating with other professionals to provide comprehensive care.
Requirements:
  • Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs or Certificate IV in Mental Health/AOD with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Blue Card (Working with children card QLD) or ability to obtain.
  • Federal police check or ability to obtain.
  • Current Driver's Licence or ability to obtain.
  • First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain.
