About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as an Ocean Freight Specialist. In this critical role, you will play a key part in securing competitive rates from ocean carriers and supporting our sales teams in pricing freight forwarding services.

The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of market dynamics, and the ability to analyze complex data sets. You will be responsible for developing and managing carrier and vendor relationships, ensuring timely responses to RFQs and tenders, and leading negotiations for FAKs, bundled rates, and contract agreements with ocean carriers.

  • Negotiation Expertise: Utilize your exceptional negotiation skills to secure competitive rates from ocean carriers, driving business growth and profitability.
  • Market Insights: Monitor carrier performance, ensuring compliance with Minimum Quantity Commitments (MQCs) and agreed terms, while providing valuable insights to support sales and improve win rates.
  • Tender Support: Oversee the receipt, registration, and timely response to tenders and RFQs, maintaining a comprehensive repository of submissions and ensuring accurate, timely, and competitive tender submissions.
  • Carrier Management: Foster strong relationships with ocean carriers, driving long-term partnerships and improved procurement results, while ensuring compliance with tender requirements and preparing clear and competitive proposals.
  • Pricing Model: Develop and maintain a comprehensive pricing model that aligns with market conditions and business goals, driving margin improvements through effective rate negotiations and cost-saving measures.
  • Rate Management: Manage Oceantariff templates, ensuring accuracy and timely updates, while analyzing price sensitivity and profitability, making recommendations for revenue adjustments and margin improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, supporting procurement strategies and improvements, while collecting, analyzing, and distributing market intelligence to relevant teams.

  • Rate Competitiveness: Secure competitive rates aligned with market benchmarks and tender requirements, driving business growth and profitability.
  • Tender Success: Ensure accurate, timely, and competitive tender submissions with a focus on high win rates, while maintaining efficiency in procurement processes and supporting the creation of minimum selling rate guidelines.
  • Carrier Utilization: Fulfil Minimum Quantity Commitments (MQCs) and strengthen key carrier relationships, while providing regular reports on procurement performance, rate competitiveness, and carrier utilization.
  • Margin Improvement: Drive margin improvements through effective rate negotiations and cost-saving measures, while communicating effectively with regional and global teams, ensuring alignment on procurement goals and strategies.
