Accounting Manager for Development Projects

Northwood Ravin seeks a seasoned accounting professional to manage the financial aspects of its active development projects.

  • Manage financial processes for active development projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Prepare and track monthly construction draws and lender requisitions, adhering to contractual requirements.
  • Review and approve AP and draw documentation for accuracy and contract compliance, collaborating with development managers as needed.
  • Partner with development teams to review budgets, actuals, and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and reconcile project general ledgers, including detailed job cost tracking, to ensure financial transparency.
  • Prepare monthly financial packages and variance analyses, providing valuable insights for decision-making.
  • Record journal entries, including capitalization of development costs and fee accruals, to accurately reflect financial transactions.
  • Monitor construction loan activity and interest reserves, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing pro formas, internal return models, and investment reporting, supporting business growth strategies.
  • Support audits, tax preparation, and compliance requests related to development entities, maintaining financial integrity.

The successful candidate will possess strong working knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting, as well as Excel proficiency and the ability to work in project-based accounting systems. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-driven mindset are essential for this role.

Key qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in real estate accounting, preferably with a focus on development or construction
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting principles
  • Excel proficiency and experience working in project-based accounting systems
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-driven mindset
