Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager Development Assessment to join our team at the City of Ryde.

About the Role

As a Manager Development Assessment, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership and expertise in the Development Assessment Department. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of your department's Business Plan as linked to Council's Community Strategic Plan. Your role includes people leadership and management of the day to day operations of the Department's staff, operations, finances, systems and assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the department in the timely delivery of development assessment, urban planning subject matter expertise and land development specialist services to the Ryde community.
  • Provide expert, timely and professional advice to the executive, senior management, customers and other internal and external stakeholders on the Development Assessment process.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and present development applications to the Sydney North Planning Panel and the Ryde Local Planning Panel.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or equivalent.
  • Extensive local government experience and understanding of Development Applications, Subdivision Certificates and Construction Certificates.
  • Experience in the management of staff and the planning and coordination of work to meet timelines.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent understanding of local and state government planning legislation.
  • Well-developed written communication skills with experience in preparing detailed correspondence, reports and submissions.
  • Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
