City of Ryde Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lead Urban Planner to join our team at the City of Ryde. As a key member of our City Development department, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our community.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide strong leadership and expertise in urban planning, with a focus on delivering high-quality development assessment services to the Ryde community. You will be responsible for managing a team of staff, leading the development and delivery of business plans, and providing expert advice to executive management and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the Development Assessment Department
  • Develop and deliver business plans that align with Council's Community Strategic Plan
  • Manage staff and lead teams to achieve project goals
  • Provide expert advice on development assessment processes and urban planning matters
  • Presentation of development applications to external panels

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or equivalent
  • Extensive local government experience and understanding of development applications
  • Proven people leadership skills, including delegation, inspiration, and effective communication
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent understanding of local and state government planning legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
