Department Name: Criminal Justice and Social Work

Hourly Rate: $12/hr. or higher, commensurate with experience and/or education

As an Academic Research Assistant at the University of Houston-Downtown, you will assist faculty with research projects, administrative tasks, and/or undergraduate courses. This position is ideal for those wishing to gain research and/or teaching experience in preparation for a Ph.D. program or future adjunct faculty position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist faculty with research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Support administrative tasks, such as preparing course materials and managing departmental records
  • Assist with undergraduate courses, including leading discussions and grading assignments

Requirements:

  • Must be a current UHD student
  • Must be admitted to the MSCJ degree program
  • Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Grade of B or higher in social science research methods and statistics courses (undergrad or grad-level)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with research methods and statistical analysis
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
