City of Playford, Australia BTR Excavations Full time

BTR Excavations, a reputable Civil Construction company, is seeking an experienced Civil Leading Hand/Pipe Survey Technician to fill a key role in our team.

The Role:

We are looking for a skilled Civil Leading Hand who has a solid understanding of laying sewer and water mains and can demonstrate expertise in using dumpy levels and lasers. Those with experience in reading plans will be considered for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct daily site surveys to ensure compliance with project requirements
  2. Read and interpret technical drawings to inform site operations
  3. Lead and work alongside civil plant operators, tradespeople, and labourers to achieve project goals
  4. Assist with the preparation and laying of pipe work, ensuring high-quality results
  5. Conduct daily pre-start hazard risk assessments and toolbox briefings to maintain a safe working environment
  6. Coordinate day-to-day civil construction activities, prioritizing tasks and resources effectively
  7. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to company policies and procedures

Requirements:

  1. 2-5 years of experience in a similar role, with exposure to earthworks, roadworks, and water/sewer mains
  2. Certification in pipe laying survey/levels (highly desirable)
  3. Dumpy level experience
  4. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team
  5. High regard for safety and compliance, with a strong focus on risk management
  6. High-level problem-solving and strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders
  7. Thorough knowledge of technical drawings, specifications, and quality requirements for all site-related activities
  8. Pipelaying experience is highly regarded
