PhD Scholarship in Photonic Circuits for Microcombs

Monash University is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to work on a research project focused on photonic circuits for microcombs. The project aims to leverage microcombs to make the most of the bandwidth advantage in optical communications.

About the Project

The project will involve designing and characterizing photonic chips for use in various optical systems, including optical communications links, artificial neural networks, and scientific instruments based on optical microcombs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with local and international academics and industry partners, including COMBS partners NBN Co. and Infinera/Nokia.

About the Role

We are seeking a PhD student with a strong background in optics, photonics, or related fields. The successful candidate will be trained in photonic chip design, photonic device characterization, and the use of photonic chips in various systems. The PhD will provide the candidate with skills to develop a career in academia or industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and characterize photonic chips for use in various optical systems
  • Work with local and international academics and industry partners
  • Contribute to the development of microcomb technologies
Requirements
  • Master's degree in optics, photonics, or related fields
  • Strong background in optics, photonics, or related fields
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
