Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Specialist Leader to join our team at the Department of Health, Tasmania.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Expert to contribute to the clinical leadership and management of our Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality, comprehensive, specialist mental health services to children and adolescents within a specified regional area.

  • Clinical Leadership: Actively contribute to the clinical leadership and management of the Child and Adolescent Community Mental Health team.
  • Clinical Processes: Develop, monitor and evaluate clinical outcome measures, assuming a lead role in the oversight of designated clinical processes.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Team Review: Participate in the multi-disciplinary team review of current clients, including supporting staff in the development, monitoring and evaluation of clinical outcome measures.
  • Data Collection: Promote compliance with the complete and timely collection of clinical data and designated Key Activity and Performance Indicators.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Mental Health Nursing Experience: Extensive experience and demonstrated specialist level knowledge of contemporary mental health nursing and an understanding of mental health issues in relation to children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Assessment and Therapeutic Interventions: Proven ability to provide a range of assessments and therapeutic interventions relevant for children, adolescents, and families accessing services.
  • Knowledge of Services and Agencies: Demonstrated experience and knowledge of other services and agencies in the context of providing specialist mental health assessment, advice, and training.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including negotiation, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Mental Health Strategic Plan: Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan.
