The Community Visitor role is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals receiving mental health and disability services.
As a Community Visitor, you will be part of a team dedicated to promoting the wellbeing, dignity, safety, and rights of clients within both mental health and state-run disability services.
Your primary responsibility will be to conduct visits to ensure that clients receiving care have adequate information regarding their treatment, care, and rights, and are supported to achieve positive outcomes.
You will work in pairs with experienced colleagues to visit and inspect mental health and disability services, engaging with clients and staff to understand their views, voice, and experiences in relation to their care and treatment.
During visits, you may identify areas for service follow-up and improvement, which will be detailed in your post-visit report.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular visits to mental health and disability services
- Engage with clients and staff to promote client wellbeing and rights
- Identify areas for service improvement and document in post-visit reports
- Advocate on behalf of clients as needed
- Volunteer experience or relevant life experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills
