Strategic Capital Planner

Job Description:

We are seeking a strategic capital planner to play a key role in shaping and executing our global capital strategy. This is a broad role suited to individuals with backgrounds in actuarial, capital management, corporate finance, or investment banking.

The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent financial modelling abilities, and the ability to clearly convey the rationale and impacts of strategic initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the multi-year Group strategic capital plan, working closely with Group and Divisional teams to conduct forecasts and planning related to the Group's regulatory capital metrics, balance sheet, and dividends.
  • Conduct financial modelling to assess the impact of strategic initiatives on key Group metrics, including debt and equity capital markets issuances, strategic reinsurance transactions, investment portfolio decisions, and other non-standard corporate transactions.
  • Support engagement with credit rating agencies by preparing presentation materials and financial analysis of rating agency metrics. Manage the preparation of key rating agency capital models, both actual and forecast, and develop key insights from a commercial and reporting perspective.
  • Assist in preparing and coordinating submissions to the Group Board and executive management, including CFO Board reports.

Requirements:

This role requires:

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of APRA regulatory capital framework and/or equivalents in other jurisdictions.
  • Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet understanding for a general insurer.
  • Excellent financial modelling skills, coupled with an ability to clearly convey the rationale and impacts of strategic initiatives.
  • Good understanding of global financial market and economic conditions, given the breadth of the geographic footprint.
