As a Community Mental Health Counselor, you will provide individualized dual diagnosis mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) counselling to complex and high-risk forensic clients. This role requires working with individuals who have serious violent and sexual offending histories.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. They will work collaboratively with the clinical team to develop treatment plans and deliver interventions that promote positive client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide community-based individual counseling services to adult males on community-based orders.
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
- Participate in regular supervision and training to enhance professional development.
Requirements:
- Master's degree or doctoral qualification in psychology or a related field.
- Registration as a psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Current Police Check and Working with Children's Check.
- Relevant work experience in dual diagnosis mental health and AOD counselling.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
