About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at ED - Group Support Functions. As a Food Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Food Safety and Quality Assurance Systems, including plans, policies, procedures, and safe work instructions.
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of effective food safety programs and practices across ED - Group Support Functions, including hotels, restaurants, and gifting lines.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify potential food safety risks, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvements in food safety practices.
  • Promote a food safety culture and awareness throughout ED - Group Support Functions.
  • Manage ED - Group Support Functions' HACCP and Food Safety / Food Defense programs, including continuous audit/inspection of all facility locations.
  • Lead HACCP Team reviews and update plans accordingly.
  • Provide training and education on food safety practices to employees at all levels within ED - Group Support Functions.
  • Monitor all customer and consumer complaint reports applicable to these programs for trending identification.
  • Analyze trends, targeting root causes to develop and implement solutions to reduce customer-facing impacts.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance Systems comply with QMS requirements, GFSI standards, and requirements of our customers.
  • Contribute and carry out GMP, GWP, HACCP verifications and support TACCP and VACCP Programs.
  • Induction, Training, and Competency of FSQ Team Members (and other areas with FSQ System Interactions) for Quality Assurance Systems compliance.
Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience in a specialist food safety and quality role.
  • Sound working knowledge of food manufacturing quality systems, hygiene standards, and food labeling codes (HACCP, FSC, etc.).
  • Tertiary qualifications in food science, microbiology, or related field and relevant food safety certifications (HACCP, etc.).
  • Experience with overseeing Food Safety Programs in a commercial manufacturing facility.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety, including HACCP, FSANZ, and GFSI standards.
  • Auditing/audit skills experience in quality or food safety management systems, including internal/external auditing for compliance.
  • Knowledge of food safety risk, identification, and management, HACCP, and prerequisite programs.
  • Experience in GFSI-based food safety management systems in a food manufacturing environment, including internal/external auditing for compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey food safety requirements, procedures, and updates to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address food safety risks and incidents effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to challenging priorities and requirements.
