Job Title: Tax Debt Recovery Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Tax Debt Recovery Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating cases, selecting the most appropriate recovery method, and negotiating with customers to resolve overdue debts.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be part of our Legal Team, which is responsible for tax debt recovery within Revenue NSW.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate cases and select the most appropriate recovery method.
  • Negotiate with customers to resolve overdue debts.
  • Discuss and educate customers about their legislative requirements.
  • Perform other administrative tasks such as invoicing, record maintenance, searching, and settlement attendance.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Demonstrate:

  • Ability to effectively complete cases within agreed timeframes.
  • Experience in responding to complex enquiries from internal and external customers including legal professionals according to service standards.
  • The ability to negotiate debt settlements by utilising strong verbal and written communication skills and conflict resolution skills to liaise with customers.
  • Attendance at Court on behalf of Revenue NSW to provide assistance/instructions to external solicitors acting on behalf of Revenue NSW may be required.
  • Experience with complex case management involving multiple accounts, representatives with extensive histories.
  • Knowledge of tax debt recovery processes is highly desirable.
