Job Description

We are seeking a motivated mechanical engineer to assist our engineering team with issues associated with the VLF facility and interfaces to the VLF mission systems.

The successful candidate will serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert, providing mechanical system expertise to ensure timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies.

  • Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions.
  • Liaise with management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures.
  • Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning.
Required Skills and Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with power generation or mechanical systems industry experience, and a minimum of six years' experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs.

Additional desirable experience includes improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance, willingness to become and maintain a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia, and understanding of different power generation technologies and international power standards.
