About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic to join our team as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Marine Geoscience. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of our research and teaching programs in marine science, geophysics, and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and research programs that align with the university's corporate strategy
  • Conduct research in marine geoscience, advancing the university's research profile in pure and applied science relevant to understanding, protecting, and managing the northern Australian marine estate
  • Supervise research interns, honours, and postgraduate students
  • Contribute to the development of research projects and collaborative, multi-disciplinary research within diverse teams
  • Develop and implement lectures, practicals, and assessment in the relevant discipline

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent qualification in marine geoscience or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two years postdoctoral research, teaching, or industry experience or equivalent
  • Expertise in the application of marine technologies and modeling to develop research outputs that inform management
  • Demonstrated excellence in research, leading to an emerging publication record and research income portfolio
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize and implement research projects and conduct collaborative research
  • Capacity to independently conduct lectures, practicals, and assessment
  • Experience in supervising research students and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills and the motivation to contribute to outreach and marketing activities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to relate to staff and students from all backgrounds
