Established in 1881, Caulfield Grammar has a rich history as a Boarding School, currently accommodating around 90 boarders from various regions, both nationally and internationally.
The Roles
We are excited to present three distinct opportunities for multiple candidates within our Boarding House community. We seek adaptable and compassionate individuals to make a meaningful contribution to this unique environment.
Under the guidance of the Head of Boarding, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, welfare, and academic progress of all boarders in the Morcom Boarding House. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a structured routine within a facility housing approximately 45 secondary students (ages 14-18).
To excel in this role, you will cultivate an understanding of each individual and their family or educational circumstances, while monitoring, planning, and implementing strategies to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of boarding students and staff. You will embody and exemplify the values and behaviors of Caulfield Grammar School.
Boarding House Coordinator (Boys), Full Time:
This is a full-time, fixed-term position, beginning with reduced hours for a comprehensive handover. The full-time role will commence in January. You will work up to 37.5 hours over 40 weeks a year (during term time), including up to two sleepovers each week. Key responsibilities include managing supervision rosters, personnel oversight, providing guidance and security to fellow supervisors, organizing student routines, and ensuring the welfare and happiness of students within the boarding community.
Boarding House Supervisor (Boys & Girls) - Casual:
This role offers up to 10 hours per week, with 1 or 2 sleepovers. Duties include collaborating with the Head of Boarding to ensure the welfare and happiness of students, providing after-hours supervision, ensuring boarder safety, and monitoring student attendance and behavior during meals, meetings, and events.
Boarding House Supervisor (Boys & Girls) – Residential, Part-time:
This fixed-term part-time opportunity offers up to 20+ hours per week, including 2 sleepovers (10pm – 8.30am) over 39 weeks. Responsibilities are similar to those of the casual supervisor, including working with boarding leadership, after-hours supervision, ensuring boarder safety, and monitoring student attendance and conduct.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working with adolescents
- Ability to quickly establish rapport with boarders, parents, and staff
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to a variety of shifts across 7 days during term time
- Experience in social work, pastoral care, or residential environments (preferred, but not essential)
- Post-secondary education qualification (preferred)
- Ability to consistently uphold rules and procedures
- Level 2 First Aid Certification, Anaphylaxis Certification, and CPR
- Current Employment Working with Children Check or VIT Registration
