Job Title: Level 5 Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

A highly skilled and experienced professional is required to support the strategic direction, planning and performance of an organization in Perth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on safety and health matters and assist personnel to meet their requirements outlined in organizational policies.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate occupational health and safety programs with a focus on employee well-being and workplace safety.
  • Communicate relevant information to stakeholders through various channels, including newsletter articles, bulletins and event management.
  • Coordinate and assist with the functions of the occupational health and safety committee, safety representatives and first aid officers.
  • Conduct individual ergonomic assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Provide a positive, proactive and professional advisory service to managers and employees.
  • Lead by example and provide mentoring and leadership to others in relation to safety and health matters.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in occupational health and safety issues in a rail and/or operational environment.
  • Possession of or progress towards a relevant tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement contemporary safety management systems and processes.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Effective influencing skills and proven ability to foster productive working relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to write concise and well-structured reports.
