Austin Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) as a member. As a member of the HREC, you will play a critical role in ensuring that research proposals are designed and conducted in accordance with the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research and the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review applications for research projects and approve only those that meet the required ethical standards.
  • Conduct follow-up reviews of approved projects to ensure ongoing compliance with ethical standards.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the institution on matters related to research ethics.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to research ethics.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of research ethics principles and guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
