About the Role

We are seeking legal professionals to contribute to a meaningful impact by providing expert advice and representation on issues affecting land, water, and Indigenous community rights across the Northern Territory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Protect and advance Aboriginal people's rights by supporting Traditional Owners and communities in recognizing, managing, and sustainably using their lands and waters.
  • Provide expert advice and representation on native title claims, land rights claims, negotiations for mining and renewable energy activities, and other land uses.
  • Collaborate with professionals from diverse disciplines, including anthropologists and land management experts.
Requirements:
  • Exceptional cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to build strong relationships and drive engagement.
  • Proven experience in property law, native title, or environmental law combined with a collaborative mindset, commitment to social justice, and strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Current practice certificate in an Australian jurisdiction and at least 2 years post-admission experience in legal practice.
  • Knowledge of the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act and the Native Title Act.
  • C Class Drivers Licence and ability and willingness to undertake remote travel in a manual 4WD vehicle or light aircraft.
