Job Title: Electrical and Instrumentation Specialist

The role of an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician involves a range of tasks associated with the commissioning of electrical systems, including transformer testing, insulation resistance testing, winding resistance testing, and ring main units (RMUs) testing.

  • Transformer testing will involve inspecting transformers for any damage or signs of wear, performing functional tests to ensure they are operating correctly, and documenting the results.
  • Insulation resistance testing is used to verify the integrity of electrical insulators and cables, helping to prevent electrical shocks and equipment failures.
  • Winding resistance testing is crucial in identifying any issues with the windings of electrical motors and generators, enabling prompt maintenance to avoid costly downtime.
  • Ring main units (RMUs) testing involves checking the operational status of RMUs, ensuring they can handle the required power levels safely and efficiently.

To excel in this position, the ideal candidate should possess a QLD Unrestricted Electrical Licence, Construction White Card, and QLD Driver's Licence. Previous experience in the construction, mining, and oil & gas industries is highly desirable, particularly with Transformer and RMUs testing.
