The role of Laboratory and Technical Support Advisor entails providing high-quality technical support that underpins the success of veterinary science teaching. This includes caring for large agricultural animals and managing their facilities.
- This is a full-time, continuing position based at the campus.
As a Laboratory & Technical Support Advisor, you will oversee the preparation of practical classes, ensure animal welfare standards are upheld, and maintain facilities and equipment at the highest standard.
Animal safety and husbandry will be your key areas of focus to support JCU's commitment to excellence in education and research.
You will supervise and train others in safe animal handling and best practices directly impacting future generations of veterinary professionals.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo excel in this role, you must possess strong practical experience in handling large agricultural animals and a demonstrated ability to manage farm facilities and equipment safely, efficiently, and with a focus on animal welfare.
Understanding WHS legislation, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment, will enable you to effectively manage risks and deliver high-quality service.
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Queensland Driver's Licence (C and MR Class)
- Working with Children Blue Card
- Q Fever vaccination or proof of immunity
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and/or weekends when required
