The Assistant Commissioner role is a newly created executive position that aims to enhance the quality of regulation within the building and construction industry.
With 5.3 million people living in Queensland, the Commission has an important task in serving its customers, contributing to the growth of the economy, and regulating the industry.
As a regulator that builds trust and confidence, the QBCC is led by the Commissioner and governed by a Board consisting of skilled expert staff who work hard to meet the needs of industry participants and the community.
Key Responsibilities- Effectively lead the Regulatory Standards and Support Division, ensuring a thriving and resilient building and construction industry.
- Support the Chief Building Regulator and Commissioner in delivering the Commission's overarching purpose, focusing on efficient and effective regulation.
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership of the Commission's operations related to the Regulatory Standards and Support Division.
- Identify emerging issues, risks, and opportunities, providing timely and relevant specialist information and expert advice.
- Lead the licensing services function, ensuring efficient processing, responsiveness to industry trends, and safeguarding industry licenses.
- Lead the Customer Contact Centres and call centre across the state, providing efficient and effective services resulting in a positive customer experience.
- Exceptional leadership skills and ability to clearly develop and translate the Commission's objectives, policies, and plans to internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and astute decision-making skills, along with a dedication to excellent customer service.
- Outstanding analytical capacity, intuitive risk awareness, and decisiveness to achieve priorities within strict timeframes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with relevant tertiary professional qualifications.
