Geospatial Data Analyst Role

As a Geospatial Data Analyst, you will be part of our GIS team working with an established geospatial system using a range of spatial tools. Your key responsibility will be to provide expert support and advice on geographical information, maintain GIS databases and develop innovative GIS solutions to support corporate business projects and priorities.

The role involves undertaking project requirements such as data modelling, manipulation, visualisation and development of professional cartographic map products. You will also provide accurate and timely spatial information using GIS that is appropriate to the needs of Council operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data modelling, manipulation, visualisation and development of professional cartographic map products
  • Provide accurate and timely spatial information using GIS that meets Council needs
  • Undertake business analysis activities including consultation, process mapping, project management and documentation development, as well as change management principles

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Geospatial Science or related field, and working knowledge of Land Ownership and Titles systems
  2. Proven experience of GIS software (QGIS, MapInfo and IntraMaps) and related programming including FME, ogr2ogr and GDAL
  3. Proven experience of SQL Server spatial databases, manipulating and statistical analysis of data, and integrated systems with a working knowledge of robust data management principles
  4. Demonstrated experience in process documentation and creating data flow and modelling diagrams
  5. Ability to show initiative and have demonstrated an innovative approach in providing effective solutions to requests utilising spatial information
  6. Demonstrate clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, with ability to gain confidence of others and set high standards of professionalism in communication
  7. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and positively contribute to team success
  8. Demonstrated commitment to delivering excellent customer service
