CNC Machinist Role

A leading engineering and maintenance solutions provider is seeking skilled professionals to join their workshop-based team in Western Australia.

The successful candidate will be part of a high-performance workshop team delivering precision component rebuilds and testing services to Tier 1 clients across the country.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating CNC lathes on locomotive wheelset overhaul lines with precision.
  • Machining wheels, axles, and support housings to exact specifications.
  • Assisting with mechanical fitting, bearing installation, and assembly tasks.
  • Interpreting technical drawings and determining manufacturing methods effectively.
  • Measuring components and ensuring quality standards are consistently met.
  • Contributing to Lean initiatives and workshop efficiency improvements.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety and compliance protocols.

Requirements

  • Experience in CNC operation and programming techniques.
  • Ability to set up and operate CNC lathe machines proficiently.
  • Kinwa CNC lathe experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency with measuring instruments is required.
  • Relevant trade qualification or equivalent work experience is necessary.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Rail industry experience is desirable but not essential - training can be provided.

  • Competitive hourly rates: Days from $57.36/hr, Afternoons up to $68.83/hr.
  • Penalty rates for public holidays (up to 150%).
