CNC Machinist Role

A leading engineering and maintenance solutions provider is seeking highly skilled CNC Machinists to join their high-performance workshop team in Bassendean, Perth. The company supports major projects across mining, rail, and heavy industry, delivering precision component rebuilds and testing services to Tier 1 clients nationwide.

With a strong focus on safety culture and Lean practices, the team operates in a modern, well-equipped facility centered on reliability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Roster:

  • Dayshift: $57.36/hr, Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
  • Afternoon shift: $68.83/hr, Monday to Thursday, 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm, and Friday, 1:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC lathes on locomotive wheelset overhaul lines
  • Machine wheels, axles, and support housings to precise specifications
  • Assist with mechanical fitting, bearing installation, and assembly
  • Interpret technical drawings and determine manufacturing methods
  • Measure components and ensure quality standards are met
  • Contribute to Lean initiatives and workshop efficiency
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in CNC operation and programming
  • Ability to set up and operate CNC lathe machines
  • Kinwa CNC lathe experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and proficiency with measuring instruments
  • Relevant trade qualification or equivalent work experience
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Rail industry experience desirable but not essential - training provided
