Animal Management Professional

This role functions as an Authorized Officer, collaborating with the Community Safety and Regulation Team in the City of Greater Geelong.

The position involves assisting in the implementation and administration of Council policies, Domestic Animal Management Plan, and state legislation related to domestic animals and livestock.

Responsibilities include investigating and preparing legal briefs for breaches of legislation, seizing and impounding domestic animals and livestock, and participating in emergency response situations.

Key responsibilities also involve proactive patrols of the municipality, enforcing action, and issuing infringements.

The role requires a resilient and customer service-focused team player who can work autonomously and communicate effectively with diverse individuals.

Applicants must possess an understanding of evidence gathering processes, research, and legal brief preparation. A Certificate IV Government - Statutory Compliance or related tertiary qualification is preferred.

Preferred candidates will undergo a National Police Check and pre-employment medical assessment.

About the Role

This role forms part of the largest Animal Management Program in Victoria, covering 1256 square km's, over 250km of beaches, trails, and paths, and 40,000 registered domestic animals.

The combination of dense residential and significant rural holdings adds complexity to the role, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills.
