Job Description

The Assistant Farm Manager is a key position responsible for providing a leading role in managing the farm, which spans approximately 260 hectares. The successful candidate will be accountable for pasture development and maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, livestock management, animal husbandry, resource management, weed management, and environmental sustainability.

To excel in this role, you must have a proven track record of managing a broad-acre property producing beef, sheep, and crops, including the ability to plan production and develop budgets.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a broad-acre property producing beef, sheep, and crops.
  • Detailed knowledge of animal husbandry, livestock nutrition, fodder conservation, pasture, and property improvement programs.
  • An appropriate trade qualification and/or experience relevant to agricultural production.
  • A current Victorian Driver's License.
  • Forklift License and/or Elevated Work Platform (EWP) certification is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Farm Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the farm's operations, including pasture development and maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, livestock management, animal husbandry, resource management, weed management, and environmental sustainability.
  • Developing and implementing effective strategies to improve farm productivity and efficiency.
  • Leading a team of staff to ensure the smooth operation of the farm.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
