Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Koorie Engagement Specialist to join our team in the Ovens Murray Area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Department of Education's priorities in Early Years, schools and the strategic priorities set by the Council of Australia Governments (COAG), the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework (VAAF) and Closing the Gap initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with people at all Departmental levels, stakeholder groups, organisations and communities.
  • Promote community awareness of educational issues and services through a range of formal and informal settings.
  • Use diverse approaches, activities, and partnerships to link services and stakeholders, to increase involvement of Koorie families and community with service providers and their staff.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Strong understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework and Closing the Gap initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
