Role Overview

The role of a School Psychologist is pivotal in promoting student learning and wellbeing across the Northern Territory.

This position plays a vital part in supporting student success, working collaboratively with school staff, parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to apply psychological knowledge and improve student wellbeing, learning, and behaviour outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Psychometric Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments and prepare clinical reports to guide tailored support for students and schools, ensuring informed decisions are made for their educational development.
  • Inclusive Practices: Champion inclusive and equitable practices in line with the Disability Standards for Education (2005), fostering a culture of respect and understanding within schools.
  • Professional Learning: Lead initiatives empowering school staff to differentiate teaching and learning, addressing every student's unique needs and promoting academic excellence.
  • Psycho-educational Support: Provide guidance and support to families and school communities, addressing behavioural, social, and emotional learning needs, and helping students reach their full potential.
  • Collaboration and Advice: Collaborate with school staff, parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to develop strategies that promote student wellbeing, learning, and behaviour outcomes, and provide advice on recommendations for Educational Adjustment Plans to maximise student success.
