The Role

The Director of State Operations will be responsible for:

  1. Providing Strategic Guidance: Offering expert advice during fire season, ensuring optimal allocation of resources throughout.
  2. Operational Preparedness: Ensuring the NSW Rural Fire Service is adequately prepared to address operational challenges of fire season, in collaboration with colleagues and partner agencies.
  3. Professional Development: Ensuring professional currency with global best practice in emergency services settings.
  4. Future-Proofing: Proactively anticipating present and future requirements to deliver a globally recognized level of operational proficiency.
  5. Operational Expansion: Extending operational capability beyond firefighting to support other agencies and jurisdictions, in line with NSW Rural Fire Service strategic intent.
  6. Team Leadership: Leading a diverse team, providing comprehensive support for NSW Rural Fire Service firefighting responsibilities throughout NSW.
Requirements

To be eligible for consideration for this role, you must have:

  • Significant Emergency Management Experience: Depth and strength of experience in emergency management at a senior level.
  • Relevant Qualifications: A Degree in a relevant discipline (Management, Emergency Management).
