Workshop Operations Manager

The Workshop Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day planning and allocation of work in the workshop to ensure timely delivery of completed works on various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all workshop activities via supervision, leading hands, and employees to guarantee operational efficiency.
  • Ensure fabrication activities are conducted within set parameters.
  • Manage hours/labour and on-time delivery to meet project requirements.
  • Provide regular reports as required by Project Managers and senior leadership.
  • Identify and report potential workmanship issues promptly.
  • Drive productivity and efficiency initiatives in the workshop.
  • Keep stakeholders informed of progress and any potential delays to schedules.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant Federal & State Legislation relating to OH&S Issues.
  • Develop staff skills and experience in Fabrication Techniques & OH&S & Quality matters.
  • Manage Plant, Vehicle and Equipment Registers effectively.
  • Ensure team members work in a safe environment.
  • Support Leading Hands and personnel with respect to workshop safety.
  • Utilise acquired skills, knowledge, and experience to build and develop a strong team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience on construction/fabrication sites/workshops with supervisory experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within the structural steel/fabrication industry.
  • Tradesman Qualifications desirable.
  • Working knowledge of welding styles and consumables for different materials and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical workshop drawings.
  • Report generation experience.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience using MS software.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills to influence people positively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking and leadership abilities.
