At Herbert Smith Freehills, we are seeking a mid to senior level lawyer to join our leading Band 1 and award-winning Dispute Resolution team based in Melbourne.

We offer an exciting opportunity for a talented lawyer to work closely with leading partner Damian Grave and other top-tier partners and lawyers across the local, national, and global group. You will undertake a range of work that supports national and international clients with commercial and corporate disputes and class action matters, including contentious regulatory investigations and enforcement matters.

As a key member of our highly motivated and innovative team, you will have responsibility for contributing to an excellent client service, handling files, identifying issues, and proactively providing solutions. You will play a significant role in projects to further develop business opportunities with existing and new clients.

Salary: We offer a competitive salary of $180,000 per annum, reflecting your skills and experience. This is in addition to a comprehensive benefits package, including 26 weeks paid parental leave, holistic wellbeing fund, and home office allowance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Australian or New Zealand practicing certificate, with at least 3 years' legal experience
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering technical advice on a range of commercial litigation matters from a leading top-tier, national, or international private practice; or an in-house environment
  • An excellent academic record coupled with strong legal skills and a practical mindset
  • A proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of our leading and supportive team
  • An ability to work to tight timeframes, collaboratively and at times autonomously
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate collegiality within a team
  • A hunger to learn and develop, and be part of maintaining a market-leading practice
