The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) is a leading provider of fire prevention, preparedness, and response services in the built and landscape environments. Our team delivers scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities, ensuring multi-hazard emergency response and community safety outcomes.
We encompass Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), and other departments working together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate, and manage fires and emergencies on Queensland communities.
Purpose of the RoleAs a Strategic and Operational Planning Officer, you will contribute to creating and sustaining safe and resilient Queensland communities through risk-informed incident and disaster management planning and policy development.
You will design, develop, and review plans that enable the department to execute its responsibilities within the context of fire and disaster management. Your research and strategic analysis will identify contemporary themes for inclusion in reviewed plans, and you will contribute to the development and implementation of the operational planning framework.
Your Key Accountabilities- Support the development and implementation of whole-of-government/whole-of-community hazard-specific best practice strategies, policies, frameworks, and plans.
- Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of departmental plans that enable the department's hazard management responsibilities, support operations, and integrate with Queensland's disaster management arrangements.
- Provide advice on the interpretation of departmental plans and planning requirements to ensure compliance with legislative and policy frameworks.
- Undertake sector-wide research to identify issues and trends associated with respective hazards and develop hazard-specific and departmental plans.

A competitive salary package, including a base salary of $119,500 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave, will be offered to the successful candidate.
