Job Summary

About Us
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is a leading emergency service agency responsible for providing effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities across a range of emergency situations. Our team comprises the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, working together to support other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

Purpose of the Role
This collaborative approach across the service and with key stakeholders delivers improved safety outcomes for the community. As an Emergency Response Specialist, you will be part of this effort, contributing to the provision of high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fire and other emergency incidents, working as part of a team to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground
- Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities
- Develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses provided by the QFES
- Maintain attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
- Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities
- Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities
- Assist with incident reporting and general station administration as required

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have Australian Permanent Resident Status and hold a Manual C Class driver's license. You will also need to commit to attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker or non-routine hours. Additionally, you must obtain an MRV license within 12 months of employment and participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care.

Candidates Required
We are seeking motivated individuals who can demonstrate their ability to work effectively in a team environment. You should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to respond flexibly to changing situations. The ideal candidate will possess leadership and management behavioural competencies, particularly in Performance through Vision, Performance through Results, and Performance through Accountability.

What We Offer
In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive salary package of $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
