Bushfire Resilience Planning Professional

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Bushfire Resilience Planning Professional to join our team at Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of bushfire risk mitigation strategies and land use planning frameworks for rural fire service areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage RFSQ's interests under the State Planning Policy, including receipt, analysis, referral, collation, and reporting on planning instruments and significant projects received by the department.
- Lead the development and review of land use planning frameworks relevant to bushfires, ensuring they align with state and local planning instruments.
- Develop or enhance systems, processes, and guidelines that support the effective implementation of bushfire hazard land use planning provisions within the department and across the state.
- Provide strategic advice and represent departmental positions related to land use and environmental issues impacting service delivery.
- Apply research and analysis skills to produce reports on complex policy and planning issues, supporting data-driven decision making.
- Support the application of contemporary bushfire science, spatial technologies, and predictive analytics in risk assessment and mitigation efforts.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure RFSQ and volunteer requirements are met, driving business objectives forward.
- Lead and manage teams within a dynamic work environment, promoting teamwork, and managing human resource activities, including staff performance development and feedback.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, urban and/or regional planning, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in bushfire risk management, land use planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading teams, developing policies, and analyzing complex data sets.
- A strong understanding of state and local planning instruments, as well as contemporary bushfire science and technology.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary of $130,000 - $140,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits, including professional development opportunities and a dynamic work environment.
